Practice Nurse Practitioner

A Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse with additional educational preparation and experience who possesses and demonstrates the knowledge, skills and competencies to autonomously diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures within the legislated scope of practice (CNA, 2006)
Nurse Practitioners provide direct care focusing on health promotion and the treatment and management of health conditions.

To practice and use the protected title of nurse practitioner (NP) in Newfoundland and Labrador, a nurse must be registered with ARNNL as a nurse practitioner.
